Donna Templeton, PMHNP

PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER

She/Her/Hers

In my over 20 years of practice, I’ve learned that while those dealing with mental health issues may have similar symptoms, the experience of those symptoms is truly unique to each person. I know the importance of getting to know the person who is coming to me for treatment, so that we can work together to manage, lessen, or alleviate symptoms with the goal of having the best possible quality of life.

Usually when you come to see me, it is because you, your therapist, or primary care physician think you might benefit from medication. We’ll decide together what medication will be most helpful in targeting the symptoms you are having and communicate frequently to determine how you are adjusting to the medication after it’s prescribed.

As both a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my main focus is on symptom management. Sessions with me will include supportive psychotherapy in which we talk about what’s going on in your life and how that impacts your symptoms—and conversely, how your symptoms are impacting your life.

I moved to the Portland area in 2019 from the East Coast where, in addition to working in the mental health field, I practiced as a licensed acupuncturist for 20 years. That gave me a real appreciation for the mind-body-spirit connection. I live here now with my wife and our dog Sunny. We enjoy spending time together in the beautiful outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.

“I want to help patients manage their symptoms in the way that works best for them.”
