Meet Magdalene Kidd Vasconez
I was inspired to work in the mental health field by my aunt, who was the first person in my family to earn a master’s degree and then become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master’s in Social Work from Savannah State University. Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient hospitals, a university counseling center, community mental health clinics, outpatient practices, and a substance use treatment center. These experiences have given me a well-rounded perspective to support a wide range of people with diverse needs.
My approach to therapy combines evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also draw from Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Gestalt techniques to tailor the process to your unique needs.
When working with patients, I strive to create a collaborative, safe, and nonjudgmental space where your experiences and goals are valued and prioritized. I believe that meeting you where you are while gently encouraging forward movement, leads to successful growth and change. My approach is rooted in balance—helping you navigate where you are now and where you want to be. I look forward to supporting you every step of the way on your journey to healing and personal transformation.
I am originally from Colorado, and I also spent two years living in Ecuador and a decade in Savannah, Georgia. My move to Oregon was inspired by a desire to be closer to my family on the West Coast. I’m thrilled to move here and be part of Aspire Psychology!
Outside the office, I stay active and engaged with many different interests. I love dancing to Latin music, and some of my favorite artists are Maluma, Don Omar, and Shakira. In the kitchen, I enjoy experimenting with Italian and Latin recipes, discovering new flavors and techniques. When I’m not cooking or dancing, you might find me hiking, surfing, or simply enjoying time with my beloved cat, Gatita. As for her, when she’s not snuggling with me, you’ll find her sleeping in my houseplants!
